The Army prison known as "Namhansanseong." It is a foggy dawn. Death row inmate No. 583 is suddenly dragged out for execution. Five members of the company, who were also called to assemble unexpectedly, are singled out. Having already spent a long time with No. 583, being selected as executioners is inevitably a deeply unsettling task for all of them. Arriving at the desolate execution grounds, they complete the execution in the fog, believing that they were the ones who fired the blank round, following their superior's instruction that one of the five shots was a blank. A collective ritual that ended all too easily and briefly.
